A few years ago all a teacher needed to conduct a lesson was a board, some chalk and a textbook. Now the classroom has been completely revamped to accommodate the latest technological innovations in education. Although not very common in South Africa, more and more schools rely on computers and tablets to conduct learning activities. During COVID-19 we have seen the government use modes such as radio to continue the learning program. This means that teaching in itself has changed drastically even for those who are from less privileged backgrounds, here are a few tools that all teachers and institutions should have as part of their arsenal:
1.Forum/Chatroom
A forum or chat room is important for fostering and preserving a sense of community in schools and organizations. This is a space that not only provides critical support to members of a community but allows them access to other members across the different groups that may exist in a community. For example, in a corporate organization, this would mean across departments. View OURS COMMON SPACE
2. Assessment Tool
An assessment tool is important because it equips institutions and exam administrators with robust reporting and analytics to give them data-driven insights. Assessment tools provide reliable data to help drive informed decision-making.

3. Live Video Streaming
Live video streaming is changing the way learning and training videos are produced and this is resulting in more engaging and effective learning for students. Students are able to ask questions and better understand concepts by discussing with other learners in real time.

4. Automated Progress reports
Gone are the days where teachers were expected to grade each every single assignment or test by hand. Now Learning Management Systems offer you automated progress reports which not only save time but also offer more accurate and reliable grades. The assessment tool will create, administer, and grade tests and collect assessment data within the learning management system. These are all efficient, secure, easy processes.
Although these are not the only tools that teachers need, they are the basic tools that schools need to ensure that their learning management systems have. These ensure that teachers and learners have interactive and engaging lessons and that they are able to assess the progress of learners and deliver progress reports.
